Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 is a federal law designed to eliminate discrimination on the basis of disability. The law states that no student with disabilities shall, solely by reason of a disability be excluded from the participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance. No otherwise qualified individual with a disability in the United States, as defined in Section 705(20) of this title, shall, solely by reason of her or his disability, be excluded from the participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance or under any program or activity conducted by any Executive agency or by the United States Postal Service. 29 U.S.C. Section 794.

Section 504 Notice of Nondiscrimination
The Lamar County School District will not discriminate on the basis of disability in admission or access to, or treatment or employment in, its programs and activities to the extent provided by law.
The following person has been designated as the Section 504/Americans with Disabilities Act coordinator and will handle inquiries regarding the Lamar County School District's nondiscrimination policies, the filing of grievances, and requests for copies of grievance procedures covering discrimination on the basis of disability.
